A new opportunity to join the council’s Corporate Landlord Service Team as a Building Operations Manager within the Homes, Environment and Communities Directorate. HEC’s mission is to build resilient, sustainable, and inclusive communities within Barking and Dagenham.
As the Building Operations Manager for the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham (LBBD), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our facilities. You will oversee the day-to-day management of building services, ensuring that all operations meet safety, compliance, and quality standards. You will manage a diverse portfolio of assets in alignment with the Council’s Asset Management Strategy. Lead on the development and options appraisals for assets within the portfolio to ensure they represent good value for money and deliver the best outcomes for the Council.
You will be responsible for managing oversight of the full building and depot service, ensuring all council-run buildings are staffed and resourced effectively. Ensuring compliance with quality standards within the Homes, Environment & Communities framework, you will provide expert guidance to stakeholders and implement best practices for optimal asset management outcomes. You will oversee significant budgets to ensure value for money, lead council-wide programs, and foster a learning culture that encourages sharing of best practices.
As the Building Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of property assets in alignment with the Council’s Asset Management Strategy. Previous experience in assets and facilities management is essential, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience. Your extensive experience in negotiating and influencing outcomes with various organisations will be crucial for commissioning and monitoring consultants effectively. You will operate within a political environment, communicating clearly with officers, members, and residents to ensure stakeholder engagement in asset development decisions.
