About the Flickr Foundation

If we imagine 100 years from now, the tens of billions of pictures currently held in Flickr could be in the public domain. Today, we have an opportunity to begin the work to preserve those pictures, their stories, and their interconnections for the very long term. A successful Flickr Foundation could help ensure that the future of the Commons aligns with our needs and values.

About the role

The Flickr Foundation is a newly established organization with a goal to remain active for 100 years. The Archivist will design and develop the framework to preserve and care for the organization’s materials, practices, and lore, making them accessible and understandable for at least the next century. The Archivist will also collaborate on Foundation programs and advise partners and fellows on creating and describing work for future audiences.
