We are seeking an experienced SHE(A) Manager to lead the Safety, Health, and Environmental agenda across the Group. This role is vital to ensuring the highest standards of safety, occupational health, and environmental responsibility throughout the business. The successful candidate will drive the implementation of SHE policies and procedures and coordinate all SHE support for operational and corporate teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of SHE policies and systems.
  • Coordinate SHE support across the Group, including consultants and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with SHE legislation and ISO standards (14001, 9001, 45001, 27001).
  • Conduct root cause and trend analysis for incidents and near misses.
  • Maintain and update legal registers and ensure emergency preparedness and business continuity plans are in place.
  • Deliver training, audits, and inspections across the organisation.
  • Positively influence safety culture and behaviours across all levels of the business.
  • Provide clear performance monitoring, reporting, and strategic improvement plans.
  • Evaluate and develop individuals and teams through coaching and leadership.

Skills

Essential:

  • In-depth knowledge of SHE legislation.
  • Proven experience leading SHE functions within telecoms or utilities sectors (minimum 3 years).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills across all levels.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with a methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • Capable of managing performance and leading by example.
  • Proficient in training delivery and public speaking.
  • Computer literate with report writing and data analysis capabilities.

Desirable:

  • Telecoms industry SHE experience.
  • Cultural and behavioural change experience.
  • Experience writing audit and inspection strategies.
  • Flexibility to work with external consultants and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Degree in Health & Safety or equivalent (or working towards).
  • Chartered SHE professional (CMIOSH) or demonstrable CPD/IPD progress.
  • CSCS card (as appropriate).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable:

  • Incident Investigation Training (IOSH/ROSPA).
  • ISO Systems Auditor (9001, 14001, 45001, 27001).
  • Temporary Works Certification.
  • CIRIA Environmental Good Practice (1-day).
  • Behavioural and Cultural Change Training.
  • NRSWA (New Roads and Street Works Act) certification.
