The predicted salary is between 24000 - 36000 £ per year.

Our client has a full-time vacancy for a Legal Secretary to provide direct support to the Personal Injury Fee Earner. You will be expected to use a high degree of self-management and initiative. The hours are 9am to 5:30 pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 5:15 pm on Fridays and is office based.

Responsibilities

  • To prepare correspondence and documents through audio-typing and word processing.
  • To administer filing which will include daily filing and the opening, closing, storage and retrieval of client files in accordance with the detailed procedures contained in the Office Manual.
  • To prepare mail and enclosures for despatch.
  • To arrange for all copying to be done, in person if the office junior is not available to undertake the task.
  • To make appointments, arrange meetings and to maintain an up-to-date diary for his/her principal.
  • To prepare the Board Room for meetings as necessary and for the tidying and clearance of the room at the end of the meeting.
  • To provide refreshments when asked to do so.
  • To provide support to other secretaries as required.
  • To provide guidance to junior and temporary secretaries when required to do so.
  • To attend clients both in person and on the telephone and to provide such support in a professional and friendly manner in keeping with the firm’s standards for client care.
  • To ensure clients are dealt with politely, courteously and promptly.
  • To undertake any specific training when required to do so and overall to have a responsibility towards self-development.
  • To ensure the confidentiality of all the firm’s and clients’ documentation and information.
  • To answer the telephone as it rings alongside the firm’s other secretaries.
  • To assist in promoting the firm in dealing with clients and other professionals.
  • Portal work - Moj/MID/MB (PI work only).
  • To assist in dealing with online Legal Aid Agency submissions for the Family Team.

Requirements

  • Ideally trained in secretarial practice.
  • High word-processing and audio-typing skills.
  • Preferably previous experience as a legal secretary or experience of working in an alternative.
