The role involves working within the wider Schemes team to deliver Schemes solutions across the UK retail business. You will manage the existing portfolio of schemes business and create new scheme opportunities, collaborating with the Schemes Team across underwriting, operations, sales, and senior leadership to drive improvement and profitable growth.
What you’ll be doing:
- Delivering exceptional service to our brokers, dealing with referrals and writing more complex business.
- Responsible and accountable for the profitable growth of schemes in conjunction with the Sector lead and schemes underwriting team.
- Challenging convention regularly and suggesting effective growth and portfolio underwriting strategies.
- Keeping abreast of new risks and exposures within chosen sectors to maintain Hiscox's market-leading position.
- Working with the Sector lead to develop new products and propositions.
- Mentoring and developing junior team members.
- Shaping and driving the underlying underwriting strategy and portfolio of business to deliver our 2030 ambitions.
- Taking underwriting ownership and relationship management for key strategic broker partners.
Our must-haves:
- Ability to make confident decisions in difficult and complex situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently in a collaborative environment.
- Minimum 5+ years of previous underwriting or analytical experience including Professional Indemnity or Financial lines experience.
- ACII qualification or progression towards it.
- Comfortable analysing, making, and executing underwriting recommendations on portfolios of business or willing to learn these skills.
- Interest in developing as a potential sector expert in a specialist area.
- Able to demonstrate influencing and negotiation skills.
- Open to new ideas, innovation, and educated risk-taking.
