Life on the team

We are now looking for a Business Technology Consultant on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract to join our growing Technology Strategy and Innovation team. As a Business Technology Consultant, you ensure that technology initiatives are identified, shaped, and executed to support and enable our business strategy and long-term plans. You act as a bridge between business needs and IT solutions, aligning IT roadmaps with business goals and fostering partnerships with technology vendors to secure the best contracts. By turning innovative ideas into actionable proposals and multi-year roadmaps, you help deliver exceptional outcomes, value, and experiences for the business.

What you’ll do

  • Strategy Definition, Alignment, Planning and Governance (20%)
  • Strategic Visioning: Define and develop a long-term technology strategy that aligns with overall business goals.
  • Digital Transformation Roadmap: Develop tailored digital transformation strategies and actionable roadmaps.
  • Technology Strategy Development: Translate strategic objectives into initiatives and technology plans.
  • Business Case Development: Evaluate and prioritise initiatives based on benefits, risks, and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Governance: Establish robust governance structures to oversee technology investments and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Innovation Culture and Framework (40%)
    • Emerging Trends Identification: Continuously monitor global and industry-specific technology trends.
    • Innovation Opportunity Assessment: Evaluate emerging technologies for potential impact on business operations.
    • Competitive Analysis: Conduct analysis of the market and competitors to identify technology opportunities or threats.
    • Frameworks: Develop and implement an innovation framework that promotes a culture of innovation and experimentation.
    • Innovation Programs: Design and launch programs (e.g. innovation labs, hackathons) that foster the development of innovative ideas and projects.
    • Idea Generation: Facilitate idea generation workshops, hackathons, and other collaborative sessions to encourage creative solutions to business problems.
    • Foster a culture that encourages calculated risk-taking, collaboration, continuous learning, and adaptability.
    • Lead change management efforts to ensure new technologies and processes are embraced by the organisation.
    • Innovation Center: Establish physical or virtual prototyping labs providing access to cutting-edge tools and resources for rapid prototyping/testing of new ideas.
    • Manage the incubation of promising concepts through pilot phases.
  • Technology Business Consultancy (40%)
    • Business Needs Assessment: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business need and challenges, and map them to technological solutions.
    • Process Optimization: Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement through technology enablement.
    • Technology Evaluation & Selection: Assess and compare technologies against business requirements to quantify returns and manage risks; recommend the best-fit solutions.

    What you’ll need
