We are seeking an experienced PCB Schematic Capture and Layout Designer to join our hardware development team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in schematic design and multi-layer PCB layout for high-speed, high-density electronic assemblies. Proficiency in Mentor Graphics Expedition (Xpedition) is highly desirable. You will work closely with electrical engineers, mechanical designers, and manufacturing teams to bring complex circuit board designs from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to interpret circuit designs and translate them into accurate schematics.
  • Create and manage symbol and footprint libraries in accordance with IPC standards and internal best practices.
  • Perform PCB layout and routing for digital, analog, RF, and mixed-signal designs, including high-speed interfaces.
  • Optimize component placement and routing for signal integrity, thermal management, and manufacturability.
  • Conduct DRC (Design Rule Checks), ERC (Electrical Rule Checks), and participate in design reviews.
  • Prepare fabrication and assembly drawings, BOMs, and Gerber/ODB files for manufacturing.
  • Interface with PCB fabricators and assembly houses to ensure design intent is met.
  • Maintain documentation throughout the design lifecycle in compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.

Required:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, a related field or appropriate equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in PCB schematic capture and layout.
  • Proficiency with one or more EDA tools, preferably Mentor Graphics Expedition (Xpedition), knowledge of Vutrax would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of PCB fabrication and assembly processes.
  • Familiarity with IPC standards (e.g., IPC-2221, IPC-7351).
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Preferred:

  • Experience with high-speed digital design (e.g., DDR, USB, Ethernet).
  • Experience with impedance control, signal integrity, and power integrity best practices.
  • Experience with design for RFI and EMC integrity best practices.
  • Knowledge of MCAD/ECAD collaboration tools (e.g., STEP model integration).
  • Familiarity with scripting or automation in EDA tools (e.g., VBScript, Tcl).

Rullion celebrates and supports diversity and is committed to ensuring equal opportunities for both employees and applicants.
