Job Introduction:
We’re on a mission to accelerate the growth of BBC iPlayer and BBC News by evolving how we approach mid and lower funnel marketing. The BBC is shifting towards a highly data-driven operating model that targets audiences and behaviours with the greatest potential to drive our key metric. To support this strategic transformation, we are seeking a Senior Analyst to join our team. This role will be pivotal in generating, surfacing, and embedding actionable insights that inform campaign strategies, optimise ongoing marketing efforts, and ultimately, drive incremental audience growth.
Main Responsibilities:
- Act as the lead analyst embedded within the BBC Growth Marketing teams (iPlayer and News), supporting the full campaign lifecycle from planning to in-flight optimisation to post-campaign evaluation.
- Collaborate with marketing strategists, media planners, and BBC Creative to shape and evaluate activity against audience segments, behaviours, and performance metrics.
- Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights to guide always-on and campaign-specific marketing decisions.
- Design and deliver robust frameworks for media performance tracking and behavioural analysis across platforms, channels, and campaigns.
- Develop dashboards and regular reporting that enable rapid interpretation of performance data and support agile optimisation of activity.
- Lead post-campaign analyses that clearly explain impact, uncover learnings, and inform future strategies.
- Partner closely with Data Science, Research and Audience Planning teams to triangulate insights and inform growth hypotheses.
- Champion a test-and-learn culture, helping the team prioritise where experimentation can deliver the greatest value.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience:
- Proven experience in a senior data or marketing analytics role, ideally within a digital media, broadcasting, or subscription-based business.
- Strong understanding of media metrics (e.g. CPM, CTR, ROAS) and marketing attribution principles.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse performance data across multiple channels (e.g. digital display, paid social, search, video, CRM).
- Skilled at translating data into compelling narratives and recommendations for marketing and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with languages such as SQL, Python or R, and dashboarding tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau, Power BI).
- Strong understanding of audience segmentation, customer journey analytics and behavioural modelling.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with audience segmentation, or previous experience in media.
- Experience working within agile, cross-functional marketing or growth teams.
- Exposure to brand effectiveness, econometrics, or incrementality testing is a plus.
Are you the right candidate?
- A growth mindset and passion for using data to unlock opportunities.
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills – able to partner effectively across teams and disciplines.
- A proactive and curious approach, always looking to dig deeper and add value.
- A drive to deliver continuous improvement and measurable impact.
About The BBC:
The BBC is committed to redeploying employees seeking suitable alternative employment within the BBC for different reasons and they will be given priority consideration ahead of other applicants. Priority consideration means for those employees seeking redeployment their application will be considered alongside anyone else at risk of redundancy, prior to any individuals being considered who are not at risk.
We don’t focus simply on what we do – we also care how we do it. Our values and the way we behave are important to us. Please make sure you’ve read about our values and behaviours.
Diversity matters at the BBC. We have a working environment where we value and respect every individual's unique contribution, enabling all of our employees to thrive and achieve their full potential. We want to attract the broadest range of talented people to be part of the BBC – whether that’s to contribute to our programming or our wide range of non-production roles. The more diverse our workforce, the better able we are to respond to and reflect our audiences in all their diversity.
We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from individuals, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, socio-economic background, religion and/or belief. We will consider flexible working requests for all roles, unless operational requirements prevent otherwise.
