EMS Lead – Part-Time | 6-Month Contract | Negotiable Rate

Location: Reading (once per week)

Sector: Environmental Management / Regulated Utilities

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced EMS Lead to support the enhancement of a major utility provider’s Environmental Management System (EMS). This part-time role (22.5 hrs per week) will run over an initial 6-month period and is key to preparing the organisation for potential ISO 14001 certification and improving overall EMS performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and gain approval for a multi-year EMS improvement plan.
• Deliver a structured internal audit programme aligned with regulatory expectations.
• Review and refine documented processes to ensure environmental compliance.
• Act as EMS subject matter expert, embedding learning from non-conformances.
• Prepare a comprehensive handover pack for the incoming permanent EMS Lead.

About You:

You will have substantial experience in EMS, ideally within a regulated sector, and strong knowledge of ISO 14001. You should be confident leading audits, influencing stakeholder engagement, and delivering improvements within fixed timeframes.
