We’re on a mission to invest in people, ideas and industries that will change the world. Octopus Energy is the global tech pioneer using our in house technology platform, Kraken Tech, to unlock a Customer focused and affordable green energy revolution. We’re changing the energy system globally, spearheading the transition to greener, cheaper energy through the installation of in-home technologies. We have phenomenal growth plans, and we need enablers to help deliver our aspirations at speed and scale. It’s a unique culture where people learn, decide and build quicker, where people work with autonomy alongside a wide range of amazing co-owners, on projects that break new ground. At Octopus Energy Heating we’re developing a home heating revolution through innovative heat pumps which will significantly reduce reliance on fossil fuels and bring a cleaner more sustainable world. We are setting up the first (of multiple) manufacturing premises in Portadown and if you want to help us bring this technology to the market at scale and speed, then read on… We are not your normal manufacturing company – and I’m not just saying that. We hire the best people and give them the trust and space to do what they do best. Things move pretty quickly here, there’s not a million and one ladders that you have to run up to make a change and you are given genuine autonomy to make decisions and improvements. So, in a nut-shell you will be the bridge between our research and development team and our manufacturing team. You will be the person driving us towards the same goals and be the go-to for troubleshooting and improving our efficiency. Good news is, both teams are based 5 mins from each other, so discussions are easily had and stakeholders are easily accessible to make decisions. On the other hand – you are your own team so you will have to be very self sufficient and confident in your experience and decision making. We are hiring you because we back you to do the job – so we’re not going to be loitering over your shoulder while you do it. You could come from a few different backgrounds to thrive in a role like this – we are open to people from a project management, manufacturing, NPI or R&D background. It’s more about skillset and person rather than job title and length of service if you get me. I think you’ll really like the teams here – everyone works really well together and it is a very openly collaborative environment. We’re also doing some awesome work here. We are designing, building, testing and shipping what we think is the best heat pump in the market for the UK’s largest electricity supplier and you get to play a very important part of that. To give you an example of where you will fit in. Say, R&D have a new component they would like to add in to the heat pump to improve efficiency but it would have an increase on the production takt time and cause a bottleneck in manufacturing. This is where you come in – you will be tasked with utilising your knowledge of engineering change, production efficiency and manufacturing to troubleshoot and resolve the issue to be mutually beneficial for both parties. Then, document all decisions and changes to make sure everything is kept up to date. If that sounds like something you could do and would enjoy being a part of – get in touch! Let’s have a chat, have you meet the team, see the line and go from there! We’re very excited about this opportunity. We’re looking for the passion, skills and experience to help shape and define the future of energy and business at a global scale. If you’re reading this and grinning and want to bring this technology to the market at scale and speed, then we would love to hear from you. Are you ready for a career with us? We want to ensure you have all the tools and environment you need to unleash your potential. Need any specific accommodations? Whether you require specific accommodations or have a unique preference, let us know, and we’ll do what we can to customise your interview process for comfort and maximum magic! Studies have shown that some groups of people, like women, are less likely to apply to a role unless they meet 100% of the job requirements. Whoever you are, if you like one of our jobs, we encourage you to apply as you might just be the candidate we hire. Across Octopus, we’re looking for genuinely decent people who are honest and empathetic.
