Aberdeen comprises three businesses, interactive investor (ii), Investments, and Adviser, each of which focuses on meeting and adapting to our clients' evolving needs:
- interactive investor: The UK's second largest direct-to-consumer investment platform, enabling individuals in the UK to plan, save, and invest in the way that works for them.
- Adviser: Provides financial planning solutions and technology for UK financial advisers, enabling them to create value for their customers.
- Investments: A specialist asset manager that focuses on areas where we have both strength and scale to capitalise on the key themes shaping the market, through either public markets or alternative asset classes.
About the department: The Aberdeen Rates team comprises a suite of actively managed UK, European & Global government bond portfolios in both nominal bonds and inflation linked, serving a broad investor base of institutional, wholesale and retail clients. Overall, the team is responsible for the management of circa £18bn of assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute actively to portfolio management decisions across the suite of inflation linked bond funds, taking on portfolio management responsibilities as appropriate.
- Proactively manage risk exposure to ensure funds adhere to regulatory and mandate requirements at all times, working closely with the risk and compliance to identify and mitigate any potential issues.
- Work collegiately with colleagues, actively participating in team meetings and on-desk debate about macroeconomics and bond markets.
- Take responsibility for idea generation and investment strategy within inflation linked mandates, whilst working closely with colleagues in the wider team.
- Assist the sales and product specialist team to market the team capabilities, with direct client interaction required via both regular updates and ad hoc queries.
- Represent the wider team at industry and client events as needed.
Candidate Requirements:
- A strong track record in risk-taking role within active government bond portfolios, with inflation linked experience preferable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication tailored for both internal and external audiences as required.
- Strong presentation skills, confidence presenting technical material in an accessible manner.
- Strong technical knowledge in macroeconomics and drivers of return in government bond markets.
- Strong Excel proficiency, VBA & Python knowledge beneficial.
- Experience in using Bloomberg.
- CFA charter holder preferred.
