Yolk Recruitment are working with an expanding Defence Consultancy based in New Malden. They are looking for experienced CAD Technicians to join their Electrical Design team. If successful you will join an experienced team working to design electrical systems for clients in the Defence Industry.

The role involves CAD work (AutoCAD Electrical), including as-builts, modifying drawings, and converting/redrawing from PDFs or TIFFs. A thorough understanding of control systems and control circuits is essential. The role also includes designing electrical hardware systems, site surveying, scope identification, and assisting with test and commissioning activities.

This is what you will be doing:

  • Create and modify instrument loop drawings and control circuit drawings using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Design electrical hardware systems, focusing on control panels and proprietary hardware components.
  • Conduct site surveys and capture project requirements to develop technical solutions.
  • Assist with testing and commissioning activities to ensure project compliance and customer satisfaction.

The experience you will bring to the team:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and ability to design and modify technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of control systems, including PLCs, DCS, Motor Control Centres, and Motor Control Gear.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of electrical related Defence Standards, including Lloyds Register and other Military Standards (e.g. Def Stan 59-411).
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work under pressure, and flexibility in working methods.
