Location: Hampshire | Type: Permanent | Voltage Range: 11kV to 132kV

We are supporting a leading utility and energy infrastructure contractor in their search for a Site Manager to oversee the build and refurbishment of substations across the UK, covering voltage levels from 11kV to 132kV. This role offers the chance to manage complex HV construction works on distribution networks, acting as the principal contractor interface on site and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to spec.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day site operations including subcontractor and labour management
  • Oversee health & safety documentation – RAMS, site plans, method statements
  • Ensure compliance with HSE legislation and internal procedures
  • Act as the Temporary Works Supervisor (as required)
  • Manage procurement of site materials and equipment
  • Liaise with clients, chair progress meetings, and coordinate audits
  • Address design queries and resolve technical issues on site
  • Plan and programme current and upcoming construction activities
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and complete site audits
  • Support project close-out and ensure handover documentation is compiled
  • Travel between sites and support delivery across multiple locations

Ideal Background:

  • HNC/Degree in Construction, Civil, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • CITB Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)
  • SSE Substation Entry certification
  • Temporary Works Supervisor ticket
  • Previous experience delivering high-voltage substation projects
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and UK HSE legislation
  • Competent working in and around live substations up to 132kV
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Full UK driving licence
