We are currently seeking highly motivated, committed and enthusiastic registered dental nurses to join our OMFS team to provide high standard of care to patients with a variety of complex needs. We welcome experienced or newly qualified dental nurses from NHS or private dental practices to apply for the posts. Main duties of the job:

  • Prepare the clinical areas including preparation of instruments, materials and equipment required for all surgical, orthodontic or restorative procedures.
  • Work alongside Consultants, Specialty Doctors and Dental Core Trainees with surgical procedures under local anaesthesia or general anaesthesia with related training and competencies completion.
  • Support Consultants and clinicians in outpatient clinics.
  • Support patients for a smooth assessment by identifying special requirements or patient’s needs prior to future treatment/procedure.
  • Provide patients or their relatives with verbal and written instructions prior to and following any oral surgeries.
  • Maintain good communication and work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient’s treatment is completed as planned.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness in clinical and non-clinical areas.
  • Comply with the infection control Trust Policy and local protocols.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of dealing with hazards & dangerous substances such as radiation, sharps, chemical spillage including mercury and the disposal of clinical waste and comply with the Trust Policy.

Person specification:

  • Qualifications: National Certificate in Dental Nursing or equivalent, GDC Registration, IV Sedation Course, Impression Course.
  • Experience: Experience in Orthodontics, Oral surgery or Restorative, Previous Hospital or Community setting experience in orthodontics and Oral surgery.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of minor oral surgery, understanding of confidentiality awareness, previous hospital setting.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
