We are seeking a highly skilled Middle Office Support Specialist to provide essential support for the Project Finance, Energy, and Real Estate departments. This role serves as a critical liaison between the Front Office (FO) and Back Office, ensuring the efficient execution and administration of both agency and non-agency transactions. Candidates should have prior experience providing middle office support to the front office in areas such as Project Finance, Real Estate, or Energy, along with a proven track record in managing and coordinating complex Agency deals. Additionally, in-depth knowledge in the review of Loan Agreements from an operational perspective is required to undertake this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaison Function: Act as the primary interface between FO teams and the Back Office, facilitating the execution of facilities and ongoing transaction management.
  • Transaction Management: Oversee and administer transactions on a participant, bilateral, or agency basis, ensuring precision and efficiency.
  • Leadership and Supervision: Supervise junior staff, providing guidance and support to manage complex transactions and situations autonomously.
  • Review and comment on ‘draft’ documentation for new transactions to check for operational fit with the agency & middle office requirements, highlighting any areas for further discussion with and/or review by the Front Office as necessary.
  • Liaise with Client Liaison (Back Office) on the opening of accounts.
  • Check (CA-CIB as agent) or obtain confirmation (CA-CIB as participant) that Conditions Precedents have been met and advise Credit Risk and Loans Administration and confirm guarantee documentation is in line with the facility documentation, under the supervision of a senior analyst.
  • Confirm/agree treatment of fees (up front vs. spread) with Finance and advise Loans Admin (Back Office).
  • Obtain all original documentation, create the files for the deals and ensure that copies of all the appropriate documentation is provided to Risk and the Loans Admin.
  • Manage relations with the borrower and the bank pool.
  • Monitor the syndication process for updating SMAC (internal tool) as and when needed and be aware of potential overholds.
  • Monitor and report outstanding covenants (with a specific focus on financial covenants), monitor the upkeep of securities and the sign-off of technical and financial milestones.
  • Manage cash flows for the portfolio including managing drawdowns and repayments, liaising with Loans Administration.
  • Give the Front Office, representing CA-CIB as a participant, the necessary information for the FO to take all necessary actions (including receiving appropriate authorisations) to reply in due time to the agent (CA-CIB or other bank).
  • Provide information on the portfolio to the Front Office, as reasonably requested, e.g. for inclusion in annual reviews.

Supplementary Information:

  • Review the Revenues & Risk Weighted Assets (as in when needed) numbers provided by Finance, provide comments and additional analysis as reasonably required by the Front Office.
  • Review Basle II Loss Given Defaults on a monthly basis.
  • Where CA-CIB is the Agent on a deal, and taking into consideration the segregation of duties between FO and ATM, provide input into and agree the agency fee with Front Office.
  • Coordinate between the borrower, legal (as necessary) and all other syndicate members.
  • Liaise with the borrowers to ensure they fulfil their responsibilities.
  • Oversee and manage the establishment of the contacts list and Intralinks sites.
  • Monitor and ensure that all Conditions Precedent of the deal are met.
  • Liaise with the Syndicate to coordinate payments.
  • Manage any waiver requests.
  • Monitor compliance with covenants and distribution of information to the syndicate.

Candidate criteria:

  • Minimal education level: Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent.
  • Experience: Prior in-depth experience of providing middle office support to the front office in the areas of Project Finance, Real Estate or Energy. In depth experience of reviewing Loan Agreements from an operational perspective. Experienced in the management and coordination of complex Agency deals.
  • Required skills: Strong sense of initiative and the ability to problem solve/work autonomously. Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit the situation. Delivery focused with the ability to effectively prioritise in order to meet deadlines.
  • Technical skills required: A robust understanding of project finance, real estate finance and Energy finance. A robust understanding of loan documentation.
  • Languages: English.
