LOCATION: London

SALARY RANGE: £56,000 - £66,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights. Purpose of The Role: We invite audiences to shape our journalism by sharing what matters to them and where we should report from. Building on Your Voice, Your Vote, launched during the UK General Election, which helped us uncover overlooked stories, cover issues which may not get national attention and gave the audience a voice. Millions engaged across platforms, and audience feedback shows they truly valued having their voices heard.

You’ll sit in the management team of UK News Content, and be part of a dynamic, forward-thinking newsroom where innovation drives everything we do. You’ll work alongside other colleagues including Story Teams and On The Day, as well as Planning and Commissioning. You’ll play a crucial role developing the project with output teams in Live and Daily News. This is your chance to help shape the future of the BBC’s journalism and be a champion for our audience. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the project focusing on short-, medium- and long-term planning.
  • Create a wider strategy around our reactive and pro-active use of Your Voice across our output leading on big projects as well as working with others to drive our original journalism.
  • Working closely with the Executive News Editor for UK News Content, you will help create the brand voice for Your Voice, come up with story ideas from audience submissions, experimenting with storytelling and creating several reoccurring formats that can work across output and enhance audience engagement.
  • Spend time listening to the audience to drive our coverage and creating opportunities for the audience to be part of our coverage including OBs, breaking news and pan BBC projects, ensuring the highest standards of journalistic integrity.
  • Work closely with editors across output, ensuring audience feedback drives stories, treatments and is an integral part of the editorial agenda. Also ensuring Your Voice content receives prominent and effective placement across News output.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Editorial Expertise: A strong background in journalism with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy and fairness.
  • Leadership: Experience in leading and inspiring a team or stakeholders across News, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Innovation: A passion for exploring and developing new storytelling methods. You will test formats, think about a longer term editorial plan, grow our Your Voice brand.
  • Audience Engagement: Understanding of audience analytics and the ability to tailor content to meet the needs and interests of diverse audiences across the UK.
  • Collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, as well as develop ideas with Story Teams across the UK and various Programme Editors.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to digital content needs based on audience interaction and the willingness to embrace new challenges.
