About the Company – Our client is a leader in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC), Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP), Cooling and Refrigeration field. With a well established building services consulting practice based in Kent, they offer end-to-end design, installation and maintenance services to an exciting portfolio of commercial, public sector, and private clients. About the Role – As the Lead Design Engineer, you will be a prominent figure in a small, highly collaborative team, and report into a supportive Business Manager. Utilising your existing expertise in HVAC, ASHP, Refrigeration and Cooling systems alongside strong project management and problem solving skills, you will play a central role in the cohesion behind our service delivery and high-quality client experience. Working with clients in education and healthcare, high-end residential property, commercial offices, data centers, hotels and entertainment venues, your core responsibilities will extend to: Meeting with clients and design teams to determine mechanical applications and requirements. Carrying out site surveys to determine requirements and to assist with pricing for installation works with varying degrees of design requirements. Conducting research to inform the design and engineering methods required for the mechanical systems. Documenting the design process, managing project timelines, resources, and budgets. Liaising with clients, designers, engineers, and manufacturers to ensure coherence. Preparing technical reports, design specifications documents, and operational manuals. Presenting proposals to clients and external project team members. Candidate Requirements – With the variety in type and scale of pipeline projects, this a particularly exciting time for a Mid-to-Senior level Chartered Design Engineer to take the next big step in their career progression. The successful applicant will demonstrate: 5+ years in Mechanical Design Engineering, ideally with 2+ years of UK experience. Chartered (CEng) Engineer Status with a Bachelor\’s degree in mechanical engineering. Solid expertise in HVAC and Air Source Heat Pump engineering design for a range of clients. Strong awareness of advancements in technology and engineering design trends. Sound knowledge of design and engineering principles and best practices. A critical mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
