The post holder will work as part of the Neurodevelopmental Pathway Service, aimed at improving the care of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other linked comorbidities across the city, both pre and post diagnosis. This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to join a new team of dedicated staff.
The post holder will assist in co-ordinating clinical and educational support including group sessions to support all staff, families and professionals.
This post will play a key role implementing interventions to promote the health and wellbeing of children, young people and the families affected by ADHD and other comorbidities. The post will assist the team in providing additional support for any child or young person pre and post ADHD diagnosis. They will be a main link for children within the ADHD pathway, working as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team who will positively represent the needs and rights of children and young people in promoting equality.
Work closely with the members of the Neurodevelopmental Pathway Team to develop, demonstrate and modify ADHD services provided to children, young people and their families.
- Be a member of the multidisciplinary teams, working collaboratively with clinical colleagues within the NDP services to prioritise, plan and organise daily workload, ensuring that daily tasks and on-going workloads are prioritised and completed within agreed and acceptable timescales.
- Communicate effectively with children and young people to explain health screening procedures and offer reassurance and encouragement to take up the service using a range of communication skills and accessing alternative communication systems where necessary.
Undertake measurement of height, weight, blood pressure, and other routine clinical procedures and transportation of equipment needed as required, following appropriate training.
To alert the appropriate nurse of any changes in a child’s situation/general condition. With guidance, assess progress, report findings and make suggestions to the nurse.
To participate in regular locality meetings with the NDP teams.
Assisting with patients with additional needs displaying hyperactive and impulsive behaviours in the clinical setting, to support them in being able to partake in the assessment process (learning disabilities, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), mental health).
