Private Equity / Growth Capital | Board Influence | High-Growth Businesses

Do you thrive on helping businesses scale, transform, and realise their potential? We’re partnering with one of the UK’s most active growth investors to appoint a Portfolio Growth Director —a strategic and commercial lead who can support management teams through pivotal moments in their growth journey. This is a high-impact role for someone who knows how to balance strategic support with hands-on challenge. You’ll work closely with founders, boards, and investors to help shape scale-up stories across multiple sectors.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Taking a seat at the table —supporting, influencing, and challenging at Board level across a diverse portfolio
  • Acting as a trusted partner to CEOs and Chairs, unlocking commercial and operational value
  • Helping management navigate key moments: scaling teams, raising follow-on funding, succession planning, M&A, or exit
  • Spotting issues before they escalate—and rolling up your sleeves where needed to keep things on track
  • Connecting the dots between portfolio companies, sharing learnings, insights and people across the platform

Who we’re looking for:

  • Someone who’s been in the room —whether as a portfolio lead in private equity, an Investment Director, or a strategic advisor with Board-level gravitas
  • Track record of working with founder-led or high-growth businesses, ideally in a PE/VC-backed environment
  • Ability to quickly assess businesses from commercial, financial, and leadership standpoints
  • Exposure to more challenging situations (e.g. underperformance, leadership change, exit prep)
  • Strong communicator who can gain trust, shape outcomes, and keep a long-term view

Essentials:

  • You must be based in the South West or have a South West base
  • Previous exposure to investor-backed environments is essential; portfolio or investment background strongly preferred
  • A professional qualification (e.g. ACA, CFA) is helpful but not required
