Maternity Cover: Senior Marketing Manager – FTC until 30th November 2025

Location: Oxford/London/remote

We are seeking a talented Senior Marketing Manager to drive Pearson School Qualifications’ marketing strategy and execution, ensuring we deliver impactful campaigns that support our business growth and customer engagement. The role is within the product marketing team for maths, science, digital services, D2C and trade marketing reporting into the Head of Marketing for this team. This is a role with wide scope balancing strategy with operation to deliver highly effective marketing campaigns for retention and acquisition for qualifications and resources.

As a key leader in the PSQ marketing team, you will be responsible for managing several subject and product portfolio managers and executives to develop and execute marketing campaigns. You will work cross-functionally to align efforts across product, sales, and trade marketing, working with specialist marketing functions to deliver campaigns across channels.

You’ll bring a strategic mindset, strong leadership skills, and a track record of delivering measurable results. You will thrive on working with members of the team to deliver high quality marketing campaigns that resonate with our customers to ultimately drive commercial growth.

Key responsibilities
  • Strategy
    • Drive effective subject and portfolio-level go-to-market strategies, in partnership with the wider Marketing Leadership team.
    • Oversee and support the development and optimisation of our overarching retention and acquisition campaigns alongside the Head of Marketing.
    • Support the Head Marketing in evaluating and driving the ongoing optimisation of marketing to meet/beat commercial goals.
    • Business partner at subject/portfolio level to project manage the creation of go-to-market approach plans for new opportunities, challenges and initiatives.
  • Campaign management
    • Lead the project management of the termly marketing plans for your products/subjects, drawing expertise from the other marketing areas to inform.
    • Work closely with the wider marketing team, including channel specialists and web development to deliver campaigns on time and in budget.
    • Ensure that key performance indicators are used effectively to inform, monitor and evaluate the success of marketing investment and their contribution to revenue objectives.
    • Control budget and resource allocation in line with operating plan financial goals to support ROI and channel effectiveness.
    • Ensure that our campaign marketing reflects the global brand across all internal and external touchpoints.
    • Ensure that insights from activity, customers and business stakeholders are fed back to inform and influence marketing strategy as appropriate.
    • Manage and oversee the development of subject/portfolio framework messaging and content for all stages of marketing customer journeys.
  • Stakeholder management
    • Build and nurture relationships with key internal and external stakeholders across business areas.
    • Work closely with colleagues across marketing within schools and wider, including Sales, Product Management and Digital Marketing, to identify opportunities and deliver effective marketing campaigns.
  • Customer Insight
    • Continuously build customer and market insight to guide strategic decisions and support direct reports in their roles.
    • Keep informed of education trends, including government initiatives and competitor activity, and share with key stakeholders, both in marketing & the broader business.
  • Leadership and Management
    • Support the Head of Marketing to lead, manage, develop and support members of the team, providing clear objectives with ongoing opportunities for personal and professional development.
    • Create a positive, inclusive and development-focused team culture, acting as the first point of contact for team members and providing clear direction and support.
    • Lead and support Marketing Managers and Marketing Executives across all defined portfolios in the creation and management of campaigns and content to meet customer and business needs.
Skills & experience
  • Excellent communication and networking skills with a strong sense of teamwork and the ability to deal with stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience of – or demonstrable aptitude for - managing direct reports in strategic thinking and go-to-market development.
  • A passion for customer experience - analysing products, customers and market dynamics and aligning these to connect the right prospect to the right product or service.
  • Multi-channel campaign management across digital and offline channels (print, DM, email, social, sales, websites, SEM/PPC, SEO, display, events etc).
  • Excellent copywriter with the ability to support team members with this key skill.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan and prioritise work effectively.
  • Results-driven with the energy and resilience to make things happen.
  • Commercial mindset, with an excellent understanding of the product development process and Marketing’s role in this.
