Job description and responsibilities:
- Administering critical IV medications such as Cardizem, Dopamine, Insulin, Nitroglycerin, and Adenosine.
- Assisting in the care of multiple traumas, cardiac arrests, stroke codes, and conscious sedations.
- Recognising cardiac arrest and respiratory arrest and applying CPR.
- Applying triaging system and assessment to all patients admitting to the emergency room.
- Providing care to people across the lifespan with different conditions from infants, children, pregnant women, and the elderly.
- Independently maintaining safe and effective care to patients with different acuity levels in a time-restricted and demanding environment.
- Constantly communicating and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal care is given to patients in a timely manner.
- Closely monitoring E.R. patients, alerting physicians/charge nurse with any changes in patients' status.
- Interacting with patients and family members often from pain, stress, shock, or grief.
- Providing efficiently and knowledgeably RN care for all ER patients, handling intubations, defibrillations, auto transfusions, Medlock insertions, splinting, conscious sedation, and hypothermia protocol.
- Reacting effectively in emergency scenarios, demonstrating sound decision making that helps save patients' lives.
- Collaborating with all members of the interdisciplinary team, therapists, social workers, doctors, and pharmacists.
- Making decisive and confident judgments on patient conditions based on vital signs, patient presentation, and initial assessment; triaged to appropriate zone; activated specialised team when indicated (Cath lab, trauma team, rapid response stroke team, etc.).
- Managing the planning and implementation of interventions.
- Leveraging compassion in facilitating pain management and completing prescribed treatments and reassessing effectiveness of therapy.
