The Company:
ER Recruitment are on the lookout for a skilled and dependable Payroll Manager to join a thriving, growing team at a respected UK business headquartered in Leicester. You’ll be responsible for leading and delivering accurate, timely payroll processes for a diverse workforce, working closely with internal teams to ensure smooth operations and compliance.
Role & Responsibilities of the Payroll Manager:
- Take ownership of the end-to-end payroll cycle, handling both fortnightly and monthly payrolls efficiently and accurately.
- Manage the payroll database, ensuring updates for new starters, leavers, and employee changes are reflected promptly.
- Work in close collaboration with HR to ensure accurate deductions including tax, NI, court orders and other adjustments.
- Input and verify variable data such as overtime, bonuses, and other payments.
- Track and communicate changes in statutory allowances, including mileage and fuel rate updates.
- Prepare and share payroll summaries for finance reconciliation.
- Handle payroll-related queries, resolving discrepancies and ensuring clear records are kept.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and ensure payroll practices are fully compliant.
- Act as the point of contact for HMRC and other external bodies regarding payroll matters.
- Support wider business and ad hoc duties as needed.
About You as the Payroll Manager:
- Proven experience managing payroll from start to finish.
- Confidence using payroll software systems (specific platforms not required, but adaptability is key).
- Excellent time management and ability to meet multiple deadlines.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with HR and Finance.
