Senior Electronics Design Engineer

Portsmouth Full-Time No home office possible

Our client is an independent electronics company seeking an experienced Senior Electronics Design Engineer for their site near Portsmouth.

Design of new products from feasibility studies, prototyping, environmental, EMC, and performance testing through to production testing and product launch.
Ensure project timelines and budgets are met.
Conduct detailed hardware and software design.
Train and support junior team members.
Collaborate with other disciplines within an integrated team.
Generate design, test, installation, and user documentation and manuals.
Design and build special test equipment for production testing.
Occasional installation and commissioning support on marine vessels within the UK and overseas.
Deliver in-house and customer training seminars.
Liaise with Notified Bodies (e.g., TUV, DNV).

Degree in electronic engineering, including control system theory, with at least 7 years of post-graduation experience.
Full clean driving license.
Proven knowledge of digital and analogue electronics technologies.
Schematic design, capture, and PCB layout skills.
Ability to create and maintain technical documentation supporting product development, including specifications, manuals, and end-user instructions.
Experience in creating and delivering presentations to customers and partners.
Experience with the full design lifecycle, from initial negotiations, requirements capture, subsystem design, hardware development, testing, to final integration.
Ability to work autonomously and communicate effectively at all levels.
Understanding of qualification standards.
Awareness of cost and schedule constraints to meet project needs.
Articulate with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with marine vessel steering control and navigation systems is desirable.
Basic knowledge of hydraulic control systems.
