Aspire People are currently recruiting for a Male Personal Care Assistant on behalf of a mainstream secondary school in Cheetham Hill. This is a one-to-one role supporting a male student with physical disabilities who uses a wheelchair, ensuring he receives personal care and support throughout his educational journey in a respectful and dignified manner.
Please note: Due to the personal nature of this position, there is a genuine occupational requirement for male-only applicants, in line with the Equality Act 2010.
About the Role:
This role involves providing consistent, respectful, and professional 1:1 personal care support for a male student with physical disabilities in a mainstream educational setting. The student requires assistance with mobility, personal hygiene, and general care throughout the school day, alongside access to the curriculum.
You will play a crucial role in promoting the student's independence, dignity, and inclusion, while working collaboratively with the wider school team to ensure a positive and supportive school experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 personal care, including toileting and hygiene support
- Assist with daily routines and transitions between classes
- Carry out safe manual handling procedures (use of hoist/wheelchair transfers etc.)
- Maintain the student's dignity, comfort, and well-being at all times
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with the student and staff
- Support the student's learning, social engagement, and emotional well-being
- Follow all safeguarding, health & safety, and moving & handling protocols
- Contribute to a supportive and inclusive school culture
Requirements:
- Manual Handling / Moving and Handling Certificate (or willingness to complete training)
- Experience supporting children or young people with physical disabilities (ideally in a school or care setting)
- A respectful, empathetic, and discreet approach to providing personal care
- Physical capability and emotional resilience for day-to-day support duties
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Strong commitment to safeguarding and professional boundaries

- NJC scale point 3: on a temp-to-perm contract.
