This is an exciting time to join the GUARDIAN Programme team at the heart of transforming the Air Defence system of the United Kingdom. You will work in a small team coordinating and managing the delivery of the Programme across the United Kingdom and the Falkland Islands.
This role is being advertised at Headquarters Air Command, RAF High Wycombe, and a successful candidate will typically be expected to attend the office at High Wycombe for 3 days per week when not travelling elsewhere. In line with Air Command's longer-term strategy, it is envisaged that the opportunity to hybrid work from alternative locations will continue where possible, noting that business requirements will govern attendance where necessary. This may include travel to Ministry of Defence Main Building in Central London as well as travel to other RAF and Ministry of Defence establishments nationally; particularly Abbey Wood (Bristol) and Swanwick (Southampton).
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
This role sits within Royal Air Force (RAF) Capability, which is responsible for the planning, delivery and through-life support of future aircraft, air command and control, and associated equipment and capabilities. Air Command is responsible for providing direction, leadership and support to an agile, adaptable and capable RAF, contributing directly to the UK Defence Mission.
The successful applicant will become an essential member of the Programme Management Office (PMO) within the Guardian Programme team in the Ground Based Air Command and Control (GB Air C2) programme delivery team. The PMO is the programme’s process, analysis, information, and coordination hub, supporting the team and providing specialist programme management advice and guidance working together with the Programme Manager. This role broadly aligns with the Project Delivery Capability Framework (PDCF) for an HEO Project Support Officer.

In broad terms you will be responsible for the following:
- Lead in the collation and coordination, across programme stakeholders, of key programme information, ensure version control and availability to meet time-sensitive programme milestones and deadlines.
- Deliver and maintain programme governance, including the collation of supporting documentation, in accordance with HQ practices, recognised methodologies and industry best practice.
- Lead the coordination and planning for the Programme Board and other governance meetings and, as secretary, capture, draft and promulgate the records of decisions.
- Generate and manage the programme Integrated Master Schedule capturing the pan Defence Lines of Development (DLoD) milestones and monitor the threats against them.
- Maintain and update the Guardian Stakeholder Profiles and Communication Plan.
- Lead on capturing, recording and sharing of Learning from Experience from the GUARDIAN Programme.
Essential Criteria
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly MS Excel.
Desirable Skills
- A Programme, Project or Portfolio Delivery professional with demonstrable experience, skills, and successes in the P3M environment.
- Previous experience of working in a Programme/Project environment.
- Qualification in Management of Successful Programmes (MsP) and Project Planning & Control.
- Experience of digital scheduling tools such as MS Project.

Alongside your salary of £36,530, Ministry of Defence contributes £10,582 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
