The Centre for Biomedical Sciences Education (CBMSE) is part of the School for Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences and as such delivers anatomy teaching to a wide variety of students across the School.

This is carried out through hands-on cadaveric dissection thanks to the altruistic donors who have agreed in life to allow their body to be used for anatomy teaching after their death through the Queen’s University (QUB) Body Donation Programme.
The CBMSE is currently ranked 3rd in the UK for Anatomy and Physiology (Times Good University Guide 2025) and the Centre for Medical Education is ranked 1st in the UK for Medicine teaching quality (Times Good University Guide 2024).
Reporting to the CBMSE Technical Manager whilst providing specialist technical advice and support to facilitate the Body Donation Programme and teaching delivery throughout the School.
This includes the preparation of anatomical prosections, assistance with laboratory classes, student projects and external course provision.
This is a 3-year fixed term contract.
About the person: The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria: Academic or vocational qualifications (e.g NVQ 3, 2 A Levels, ONC/OND, City & Guilds level 3 orequivalents in a relevant subject).
Typically 3 years relevant experience to include a minimum of 6 months experience in handling humancadaveric material.
Comprehensive knowledge and experience of human embalming procedures.
Demonstrable proficiency of standard anatomy laboratory equipment and/or equipment and procedures in arelated area, for example, in a funeral directors.
Well-developed understanding of Health and Safety regulations as pertains to the use of human cadavers.
Knowledge of the Human Tissue Act 2004.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Must be able and prepared to assist in the Mortuary and Dissection Rooms and be willing to work with humancadaveric material including prosections.
Proficiency in computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office or similar software.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be willing to attend internal and external courses related to continuing professional development, forexample, anatomy methodology training courses and workshops to learn and adapt to new techniques and technologies.
Provide a laboratory related on-call service outside normal working hours (in rotation) as required.
Willing to work on occasion outside of normal working hours when required.
Significant manual handling is required for this post therefore ability to lift and move laboratory equipment andspecimens is essential.
