Are you passionate about Science? Do you have a passion for teaching and working with the most vulnerable learners? If you do, then the governors of Brownhill Learning Community would like you to consider applying to become a part of our school community.

You would be joining Brownhill at a very exciting time in its journey. The school currently includes the Pupil Referral Service and the Special School. There is a defederation process underway and the two parts of the school will be splitting to form two separate schools during the next academic year. This process will provide a new direction for the school and new systems, processes and opportunities.

We are seeking to appoint a Head of Science who has a commitment to the achievemnent and equal opportunities for all learners. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to help shape the Science department and make a wider contribution to teaching and learning as the school goes through the process of defederation.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management and teaching of Science provision across the school. This involves close working with the Senior Leadership Team on the development of the department, the overall curriculum and outcomes for pupils.

We welcome applications from experienced staff with a commitment to changing the life chances of our pupils. Experience of working with pupils of all ages from primary to secondary will be an advantage but is not essential . Experience of Team Teach and SEMH/PRU preferred but again it is not essential.

The post holders will be required to work across all of the Brownhill Learning Community sites as required. This will be on only one specific site on any given day., The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointment to this post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring and background check

The ability to converse at ease with customers and service users and provide advice in accurate spoken English is an essential requirement of this post.
