About The Role

Gleeds Energy seeks an experienced Principal Estimator to lead our commercial estimating team serving the nuclear and defence sectors. As a principal estimator, you will lead a team and oversee estimating activities. Your responsibilities include:

  • Calculating total project costs and providing detailed breakdowns
  • Developing tender strategies with the bid team and preparing estimates for formal bids
  • Ensuring all estimates are reviewed, approved, documented, and presented
  • Managing and developing a team of estimators at various levels
  • Providing expertise in estimating services and guiding the estimating process, including coaching and development of the wider estimating community
  • Understanding other project controls such as planning, earned value, progress management, and change control pre- and post-contract

About You

Who we’re looking for:

  • Relevant experience in Estimating/Cost Management, preferably in Nuclear, Civil Engineering, or related sectors, though not essential
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; methodical thinking; organizational skills; adaptability; strong problem-solving, negotiation, financial, and numeracy skills
  • HNC, HND, or Degree in Cost Management, Construction Law, Engineering, or similar; alternative backgrounds such as Engineering may be considered
  • Professional qualifications or memberships (e.g., RICS, CIOB, CICES, CIPS) are desirable and supported if not already attained
