Job Description CFD Engineer β Hybrid β Bristol, UK π Use advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to optimize the performance of rotary steerable tools and support the development of next-generation drilling technologies. π οΈ Build and validate 3D CFD models, collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, and turn simulation insights into high-impact engineering improvements. π Help drive innovation in high-performance, downhole environments by analyzing fluid behavior and contributing to both sustaining and new product development. What Youβll Do β Develop and maintain accurate 3D CFD models for existing and new tools β Validate simulations with lab and field data to ensure accuracy β Analyze flow performance and optimize internal fluid behavior β Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and operations teams β Design and execute test rigs to verify models and tool performance β Document and present simulation findings clearly and concisely β Support redesign efforts and obsolescence management β Research new technologies to improve rotary steerable system performance β Participate in occasional international travel What You Need to Have β Bachelorβs or Masterβs degree in engineering or a related discipline β Minimum 5 years of CFD or fluid dynamics experience β Deep understanding of fluid mechanics and turbomachinery principles β Proficiency in Ansys Fluent and 3D CAD (preferably Creo) β Solid grasp of hydraulic systems, flow concepts, and fluid equations β Ability to validate and interpret complex simulations β Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills β Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines within project timelines Nice to Have β Experience with non-Newtonian fluids and extreme or downhole environments β Familiarity with Python (e.g., PyFluent) or MATLAB β Experience using open-source tools like OpenFOAM β Knowledge of Creo CAD software β Additional modeling experience (FEA, stress analysis, dynamic simulations) Tools Youβll Use β Ansys Fluent β Creo (or other 3D CAD) β Python or MATLAB β Microsoft Office Suite Benefits β Competitive salary β 25 days holiday β Company pension plan β Private medical insurance β Life assurance β Relocation support if applicable β Regular team social events β Hybrid working flexibility
