Job Purpose:
To lead and manage the daily operations of the branch, ensuring profitability, growth, and excellent customer service. The Branch Manager will oversee all aspects of branch performance including sales, stock management, staff development, and customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day branch operations including warehousing, logistics, and trade counter.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety and company procedures.
- Sales & Business Development
- Drive branch revenue through proactive customer engagement and local business development.
- Identify opportunities for growth and new business within the local market.
- Manage key accounts and maintain strong customer relationships.
- People Management
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team including sales staff, drivers, and warehouse operatives.
- Manage recruitment, training, performance reviews, and succession planning.
- Financial & Stock Control
- Manage the branch P&L, delivering on agreed budgets and KPIs.
- Monitor stock levels, control costs, and reduce wastage or shrinkage.
- Customer Service
- Ensure exceptional service is delivered across all customer touchpoints.
- Handle customer queries and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience in branch, operations or general management within the electrical wholesale industry (or similar trade-based distribution environment).
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to grow branch turnover and margin.
- Excellent leadership and team development skills.
- Solid understanding of stock control, purchasing, and supply chain processes.
- Confident communicator with strong negotiation and relationship-building ability.
- Proficient with business software and ERP/stock management systems.
Qualifications:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English essential.
- Further qualifications in business, sales, or management desirable.
- Electrical product knowledge or background highly advantageous.
