Description
We are looking for people to join our fantastic team at Somerset House Trust. As the home of cultural innovators, the Trust connects creativity and the arts with the broader society.

As Senior Graphic Designer you will help lead our internal creative pod within the Marketing team and take charge of shaping the visual identity and design language of our brand. You’ll lead a small, talented team of creatives and collaborate closely with other departments to deliver compelling visual solutions across multiple platforms. You are not only a design expert but also a strategic thinker who can translate business goals into impactful design work.
This role is initially for 3 months; however, it could be extended and become permanent.
What we are looking for:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the creative direction for design projects, ensuring consistency with the brand’s identity and goals.
- Develop and oversee the execution of creative concepts across social, print, web, and multimedia platforms.
- Support on the briefing and selection of lead campaign imagery.
- Manage and mentor a team of two creatives, a designer and videographer, providing creative guidance and fostering professional growth.
- Collaborate with marketing, PR, exhibitions, studios and development teams to create innovative creative strategies that support business objectives.
- Ensure high-quality delivery of design projects from concept through to execution, meeting deadlines and maintaining brand consistency.
- Stay updated with industry trends and integrate them into creative processes to keep the brand at the forefront of design.
- Present design concepts and strategies to stakeholders, effectively communicating design decisions and rationale.
- Develop an efficient creative workflow and design processes that can ease bottlenecks and can scale during our busiest periods.
- Manage external creative agencies or freelancers when necessary.
- Act as brand guardian across all creative assets for our brand touchpoints.
Skills, knowledge & expertise required for the role:
Experience :
- Multiple years of professional experience in a senior graphic design or creative lead roles, with a proven track record in leadership.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a range of creative projects across multiple platforms (digital, print, motion, etc.).
- Experience leading creative teams, establishing creative processes and managing design projects from ideation to execution.
- Experience working closely with marketing teams either as clients in an agency setting or in-house.
Skills :
- Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects), Figma, Sketch, or other design tools.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate creative ideas and collaborate with non-design teams.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of current design trends and how to apply them while maintaining brand integrity.
- Experience with spatial design (signage and events) ideal but not essential.
