Job Title: Civil Design Engineer Location: Hybrid (Office based in Peterborough) Contract Type: Freelance / Contract (Inside IR35) Sector: Clean Water – Non-Infrastructure Start Date: ASAP Duration: Long-term contract Overview: We are seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join a leading design team delivering non-infrastructure clean water projects. This is a hybrid working role, with office attendance required in Peterborough. You\’ll play a key role in developing detailed civil designs for treatment and pumping facilities, ensuring alignment with client specifications and relevant industry standards. Key Responsibilities: Produce and review detailed civil design drawings and documentation. Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and process engineers on multi-disciplinary projects. Support optioneering and feasibility studies for new and existing water assets. Prepare technical reports, design calculations, and schedules. Ensure designs are compliant with CDM, DSEAR, and Water Industry specifications. Contribute to HAZOPs, design reviews, and constructability assessments. Requirements: Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience). Proven experience in the UK water sector, particularly clean water or non-infrastructure assets. Strong understanding of civil design principles related to water treatment works and pumping stations. Proficient in using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar tools. Able to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary design environment. Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., Sewers for Adoption, WIMES) is desirable.
