DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The new centralised Audience Insights team purpose is to be independent thought leaders at the heart of Channel 4’s creative and commercial decision-making, bringing a single source of truth and big picture perspective, challenging and advising the business to ensure profitable business growth through the use of data.
Within the new centralised operating model, Analytics has consolidated into a centre of excellence, collaborating with the Insight Business Partner team and working alongside other specialist teams (Research, Data Enablement and Reporting) to drive overall audience understanding and impact.
JOB PURPOSE
Working under the direction of an Analytics Lead, this role directs a large team (of around 7-9) Insight Analysts to source and prepare high-value insight analysis using relevant data and innovative techniques and tools to inform decision making at Channel 4. The role and their team will be focussed on Viewing and Marketing data.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working with the Insight Business Partner team, build a work plan of insight deliverables from across relevant business pillars.
- Building close relationships with Research and Data Enablement & Reporting teams, promoting collaboration to deliver more powerful insights.
- Manage a team of Insight Analysts, working with them to design analytics from briefs, ensuring they are delivering high quality impactful work within manageable workloads. Nurture talent and build on technical and storytelling skills, encouraging a culture of curiosity in the team.
- Identify opportunities to try new and innovative analytical or data visualisation techniques, driving the team, their outputs and the business forward.
- Proactively look out for areas to improve processes and create new ones, acknowledging opportunities when automatable scalable solutions and self-serve are required and when one off analytics is best placed.
- Encourage a culture of curiosity and confidence in insights, calling out failure of C4 to meet the required growth targets and bringing insight which drive Senior Leader decisions to unblock barriers.
- Recommending to the Analytics Lead the innovation of new approaches to insight based on new to market and industry perspectives, data sets, analysis methods or modelling tools.
- Contributing ideas, options & solutions to the Analytics Lead and Head of Audience Insight to evolve the insight function’s impact, value & capability, as a being an active part of building the team culture.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS / STAKEHOLDERS
- Analytics Lead for analytics direction and escalation.
- Senior Manager, Social and Product to ensuring across functional collaboration and support.
- Insight Business Partners for business requirements and context. Co-presentation to leaders alongside BP.
- The role will be responsible for a large team of Insight Analysts. No direct financial accountability.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Leadership: Experience in managing and developing a large team of analysts, with varying skillsets and needs.
- Technical skills: Extensive experience in using SQL; Python/R or other statistical programming language experience preferred.
- Background in Marketing or Customer Analytics preferred, with experience in any of the following a plus: media and viewing (in the linear and/or streaming space), marketing (including digital marketing), forecasting.
- Storytelling: Demonstrable history of translating complex data sets into clear and actionable narratives, communicating opportunities and challenges to stakeholders.
- Prioritisation: Skilled at prioritising and managing multiple project schedules and deadlines that run simultaneously for self and team.
- Collaboration: Ability to proactively build a collaborative environment within the Insight function and across the business to drive the best possible outcome.
Salary Basic salary starting at £84,000 dependant on experience.
