An established law firm is looking for a Senior Compliance Advisor to join its Compliance Department in London. This role is suited to an experienced compliance professional who enjoys working in a structured legal environment and applying their expertise to ensure regulatory adherence across various aspects of the firm's operations.
About the Role
As a Senior Compliance Advisor, you will be a key player in maintaining and strengthening the firm’s compliance framework. Your responsibilities will cover a broad spectrum, including:
- Policy Review & Development – Evaluating and updating compliance policies, plans, and procedures to align with regulatory standards.
- Client Onboarding & Risk Assessment – Conducting due diligence, analysing corporate structures, and tracing beneficial ownership to ensure compliance with AML regulations.
- Regulatory Guidance & Advisory – Providing expert advice on AML, sanctions screening, and conflicts of interest, ensuring legal professionals adhere to regulatory expectations.
- Training & Compliance Awareness – Coordinating and delivering compliance inductions for new joiners, refreshing annual training, and promoting a compliance-conscious culture within the firm.
- Monitoring & Reporting – Conducting regular audits, maintaining accreditation renewals, supporting external compliance assessments, and compiling reports for senior management.
- File Management & Documentation – Organising compliance records, maintaining structured electronic files, and ensuring confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
- Supervision & Team Support – Providing guidance to junior compliance staff, ensuring smooth execution of compliance procedures, and assisting in department-wide initiatives.
About You
You will have hands-on experience in a compliance role within a regulated UK law firm, with strong knowledge of SRA Standards, AML regulations, GDPR, and legal regulatory frameworks. Your ability to assess risks, provide practical compliance solutions, and support legal professionals will be essential. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills are key to succeeding in this role.
Desired Experience
- Previous experience in a compliance function within a UK law firm
