This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly regarded Learning & Development team within a luxury automotive manufacturing environment. As a Manufacturing Trainer, you will be instrumental in developing the hands-on skills, knowledge, and behaviours of colleagues, team leaders, and staff across manufacturing operations.

Focused on delivering practical, workshop-based training – particularly in high-voltage electrical and lean manufacturing areas – you’ll be responsible for running engaging sessions that support business-critical competence and compliance. This role suits a confident trainer with experience in industrial or automotive environments, who thrives in a hands-on setting and understands the realities of the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Trainer:

  • Deliver practical, hands-on training in a manufacturing setting – both group sessions (typically 12–16 people) and 1:1 coaching.
  • Deliver technical training programmes, particularly focused on high-voltage systems, electrical safety, lean manufacturing, and product-specific knowledge.
  • Adapt and tailor existing training content, with the opportunity to influence and develop new programmes in line with business needs.
  • Act as a key point of contact for technical competence development within Manufacturing, offering guidance, support, and feedback.
  • Identify training needs at individual and team levels, working closely with operational and functional stakeholders.
  • Coach colleagues on the job, supporting continuous improvement and best practice.
  • Supervise and coordinate Training Slip colleagues, including planning, documentation compliance, and performance tracking.
  • Support internal initiatives, such as HR Academy cross-functional sessions and knowledge-sharing across departments.
  • Provide backup cover for the Process Manager – Training Operations and take part in health and safety activities such as Slip Auditing.

A Day in the Life:

You’ll spend your time actively engaging with manufacturing teams on the shop floor, leading practical training sessions rather than academic or e-learning based delivery. You’ll tutor individuals and groups on brand-specific processes and ensure competence in high-voltage systems, electrical safety, and general manufacturing principles. As a confident communicator and self-starter, you’ll deliver with credibility and adapt flexibly to real-world production environments.

Key Skills & Experience Required:

  • Experience delivering technical training in a manufacturing or industrial setting (e.g., automotive, engineering, aerospace, construction equipment).
  • Practical knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems, lean manufacturing, and problem solving techniques.
  • Confident, professional trainer who can engage diverse audiences and maintain credibility on the shop floor.
  • Familiarity with training compliance, competence tracking, and documentation standards.
  • Able to coach and communicate clearly, both in formal sessions and informal, on-the-job learning.
  • Experience in companies such as tier 1 manufacturing suppliers, or industrial training providers is beneficial.
  • Strong planning and organisation skills; proactive and self-sufficient.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Recognised qualification in training, HR, learning & development, or coaching.
  • A relevant Lean Manufacturing qualification is desirable.

Please note, this role is deemed inside of IR35. The final pay rate offered will be inclusive of the Assignment pay rate, holiday pay and Apex Recruitments contribution towards Employer Costs.
