We’re currently recruiting on behalf of our client, a prominent name in Automotive Electrical Engineering, for a Junior Operations Manager (Telematics) to oversee field service operations during twilight hours across the London region.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded and people-focused individual to step into a leadership role supporting a fast-paced engineering team delivering on-bus technology solutions, including CCTV and telematics systems.
The Role: You will be the key operational contact for a mobile engineering team, ensuring exceptional service delivery and real-time support across customer sites. This role requires a confident leader who can juggle technical oversight, engineer performance, and client satisfaction – all while working flexibly outside of traditional hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily:
- Oversee field engineers across multiple client locations.
- Provide immediate technical and logistical support when issues arise.
- Ensure high standards of engineer conduct, punctuality, and vehicle presentation.
- Champion health & safety compliance on all active sites.
- Minimise repeat visits through proactive issue resolution and quality control.
- Maintain open and responsive communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct site visits pre- and post-installation to assess service quality.
- Conduct audits and engineer assessments against KPIs.
- Provide feedback, coaching, and performance reviews.
- Lead training sessions on technology and procedures.
- Address non-conformance reports (NCRs) and implement process improvements.
- Support strategy development alongside the senior management team.
- Make recommendations on staffing decisions and team structure.
- Represent field engineers in interdepartmental meetings.
- Report and escalate technical issues as necessary.
- Drive quality assurance and continuous improvement.
