The role
Head of Building Safety
Are you an experienced professional with a deep understanding of building safety compliance and systems management? We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Head of Building Safety to lead our compliance efforts and ensure the highest standards of safety for our residents and our buildings.
About the role
You will drive the development and implementation of robust systems to manage compliance with building safety regulations and ensure ongoing adherence to regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Director of Property – Asset Management you will:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive systems to monitor and manage compliance with the Building Safety Act and other relevant legislation.
- Be responsible for the Building Safety Management system of robust policies and procedures which delivers demonstrable compliance and safety for residents.
- Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Be responsible for the systems which capture accurate, relevant and up to date information to maintain the Golden Thread.
- Act as MTVH’s lead subject matter expert on building safety compliance, providing advice and guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Act as an unrelenting champion of the importance of Building Safety and how it matters to every colleague across MTVH.
- Develop and maintain constructive relationships with the Building Safety Regulators.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews, identifying and addressing gaps in compliance processes.
- Prepare detailed reports and analysis for Executive Team, Safer Buildings Panel and Property Committee.
About you
To excel in this role, you will have:
- Extensive experience in building safety, compliance, and systems management.
- In-depth knowledge of building safety legislation and regulation, including the Building Safety Act and relevant statutory instruments.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing teams and driving organisational compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and manage complex compliance systems.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with regulators, residents, and senior leaders.
- Relevant qualifications in construction, safety, or risk management (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH, RICS).
- A meticulous and systematic approach to managing compliance and safety.
