Job Description

Operations Specialist (with Technical PM/BA skills) – 12 Month Fixed-Term Contract

Hybrid, London – City

Full time, Fixed Term

Salary: £61,000-£71,000 per annum

Our mission

The overarching purpose of the Chartered Insurance Institute (‘the Institute’) is to educate and support our members to deliver services to the highest professional standards and to advocate for the public good. By doing this the Institute builds and maintains public trust in the insurance, financial planning, and mortgage advice professions.

Our vision

Our vision is that CII and PFS professionals build a world which delivers ever greater financial resilience for individuals and societies more broadly.

Your role

As an Operations Specialist, you will lead the delivery of complex projects that span digital transformation, international expansion, and operational redesign. Drawing on your expertise in technical project management and business analysis, you’ll manage cross-functional initiatives that enhance systems, streamline processes, and improve the experience for both internal teams and external users.

You’ll work across the organisation to gather requirements, translate them into actionable plans, and oversee implementation—particularly across platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Business Central, and Learning Management Systems. Your role will involve coordinating internal teams and third-party vendors, managing delivery through Agile and Waterfall methodologies, and ensuring seamless integration across systems.

In addition to project delivery, you’ll drive continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies, refining workflows, and promoting a culture of innovation. You’ll also support data-driven decision-making through reporting and performance metrics, and may contribute to shaping the Institute’s future operating model.

You

  • You bring a strong blend of technical project management and business analysis skills, and know how to apply them to deliver real-world outcomes.
  • You thrive in complex environments where you can bring structure, clarity, and momentum to cross-functional projects.
  • You’re equally comfortable diving into technical detail and stepping back to see the bigger picture.
  • You enjoy working with a wide range of stakeholders and know how to translate between business needs and technical solutions.
  • You’re proactive, organised, and able to keep multiple moving parts aligned and on track.
  • You take pride in improving systems and processes, always looking for smarter, more efficient ways to deliver.
  • You bring a thoughtful, analytical approach to problem-solving and decision-making.

Your benefits

In addition to a market-benchmarked base salary, here are some of the benefits you can expect from the CII as a valued colleague:

  • 10% non-contributory pension
  • 30 days annual leave + bank holidays
  • Healthcare cash plan
  • Life assurance
  • Modern office space located in 20 Fenchurch Street (Walkie-Talkie) with free Sky Garden access and discounts
