Town Manchester Salary £26,530 – £29,114 per annum (pro rata) Salary period Yearly Closing 29/05/2025 23:59 Job overviewThis role will involve contributing to the overall activity in the HIV service, working alongside the current senior support workers and the wider HIV nursing team. They will also be working with the MDT to support service for patients receiving specialist HIV care from the North West Infectious Diseases Unit based at North Manchester General Hospital. The role entails seeing patients in a variety of settings including hospital, outreach clinics, community venues or their own home. Main duties of the jobAssist in the assessment, care delivery and management of people referred to the HIV Specialist Nurse team Assist the registered nurses and Doctors in the running of outreach clinics To carry out designated duties as part of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) under the direction and supervision of the registered professional. This will include venepuncture, home visits including nursing homes, ward visits, outreach clinic support, and HIV testing. This will include providing level one Psychological support. Independently run phlebotomy list, including complex phlebotomy (via neck) where needed (Training to be provided for phlebotomy/neck bloods) Keep high quality records Carry out clerical duties as and when required e.g monitoring shared inboxes, booking appointments, answering the telephone. Working closely with Intensive Support Workers and peer navigators. Person specificationQualifications, Knowledge and Experience.Good general education to GCSE level or equivalent Evidence of a health related qualification e.g NVQ level 3, care certificate or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years experience in a senior healthcare support worker role. Substantial support worker experience at band 3 or above Experience of venepuncture Experience of working independently and ability to manage own work load Experience of working in the community or outreach setting. Basic knowledge of HIV Knowledge and understanding of HIV and treatment. Foundation degree in Health and Social Care or relevant clinical experience Evidence of CPD in the form of personal development portfolio Experience of working with people living with HIV. Experience in providing level 1 psychology care.
