Hours per week: Mainly weekends, but varied and can be discussed. (Possibility of an overnight, but not essential)

Hourly pay rate: £14.00 an hour

I am looking for someone to help support my 26 year old autistic son. He is fun and wants to do things all the time. He likes swimming, trampolining, model railways, Legoland and places similar. He also enjoys spending time making things with wood in a log cabin in the end of the garden. He suffers with anxiety so will take some time to get used to you. A lot of patience is needed as he can get upset and angry and can on occasions hit people. He likes to feel he is in charge of places where he goes. He is very talkative and does have a sense of humour.

Duties include:

Medication prompting/administering

Eating and drinking assistance

Other relevant duties as required

Housekeeping

Shopping

Cooking

Transportation

Companionship

Looking after pets

Gardening

Bathroom assistance

Candidate qualities

Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality

Reliable with good timekeeping

Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative

Hygienic, tidy and well organised

Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties

Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills

Honest and cheerful

Creative

Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard

Must be comfortable with pets

Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

Knowledge of Autism and behaviour difficulties.

Additional requirements Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours Notes: All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required. Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer. If the role is employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.
