Special Testing Ltd is a member of the Special Steel Group of Companies and is one of the leading steel testing companies in the country. We want to expand our team of sawing technicians who are critical in supporting our machine shop in the production of precision mechanical test piece samples. You will enjoy variety, as the saw shop receives a multitude of different shapes and sizes in many different steel grades every day and as a one of our sawing specialists, you will be tasked with extracting suitable samples, in the right location and orientation. Skills Required We are looking for a person who probably already works in the steel and engineering sector and will be very familiar with manual and / or NC band saws, cutting a range of grades to relatively tight tolerances. You will be an accurate, detailed person and familiar with using a tape measure, verniers, engineering squares and comfortable reading and interpreting working instructions. FLT and crane experience is desirable, but we are happy to provide training or refresher courses to the right candidate. If you would like to use your skills beyond simply cutting blanks and bars in a steel stockholder environment and incorporate a little engineering thought and approach to your working day, then we’d like to hear from you. Pay Rate: We offer a basic rate and weekly production bonus pot for you and your team giving a range of £11.44 to £14.00 hour. There will be the opportunity to increase earnings by extending individual skill sets as you progress.
