In this role, you’ll provide comprehensive medical services across all stages of life, managing acute conditions, chronic illnesses, and complex care needs with a personalized, patient-centered approach.
In this role you will work closely with an interdisciplinary team of nurses, specialists, and allied health professionals to develop tailored treatment plans that truly make a difference. Your expertise and empathy will help guide patients through their recovery journeys, improving outcomes and quality of life. Working a standard 8-hour shift, you\’ll engage with an average of 14–18 inpatients per rotation.
As part of our hospitalist program, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with UBC’s Faculty of Medicine, where you can choose to integrate teaching and mentorship into your clinical practice. This flexible option allows you to enrich your professional experience by blending patient care with medical education – offering a dynamic and fulfilling path for those interested in academic involvement.

Compensation
Compensation Type Clinical Service Contract Estimated Remuneration For a full time hospitalist, anticipate an annual base income of $336,168.00 or $200.10/ hour + MOCAP Level 2. Up to an additional 40% is also available with group contract incentives.
Benefits and Incentives
May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including:
- Retention Premium 14%
- Retention Flat Fee $21,696
- Relocation Funding Available $Relocation reimbursement up to a maximum of $9,000 for moves within BC, $12,000 for moves within Canada, and $15,000 for those relocating from outside Canada. *Relocation incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at the time of offer.
- Recruitment Incentive $20,000, prorated for physicians working less than full time.
- Other Benefits/Incentives With RCME, you’ll be eligible to receive $1,320 for up to 2 years in Cranbrook, $3,520 during your 3rd and 4th year, and $5,720 after 4 years, in addition to the Doctors of BC CME funds. *Rural incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at the time of offer.
