The position will focus on managing the sitewide Utilities operation to safely meet all Tate & Lyle Sugars (TLS) business and production requirements in a cost effective and efficient manner.
You will also get the opportunity to help look at improvements that can be made to current processes to help with efficiencies as well as management responsibilities.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the daily operations of a steam raising and power generation plant and ancillary equipment.
- Optimise area of responsibility to ensure efficient, cost effective plant operation and measure compliance via plant records maintained via automated control systems and by area operations teams.
- Manage and develop team of operational personnel providing training and skills to meet business needs.
- Identify and implement plant improvements via Capital investment opportunities as agreed with Process and/or Refinery Manager.
- Assist with development of and control costs within agreed budgets. Produce energy scenario plans to accommodate different operating configurations.
- Report monthly energy, water and other key metrics for the plant.
- Work with the Environmental team to provide data and help with climate change, EU ETS and other required energy efficiency schemes.

WORK EXPERIENCES
- Extensive experience in large processing plant with high pressure steam and high voltage power generation, preferably with experience of administering EU ETS, CHPQA and CCA compliance.
- Ability to manage Safety, Hygiene, Environment and Quality. Particularly experience of safety in high pressure steam systems and in cooling water systems (Legionella Management).
- Experience of working in a continuous improvement environment essential or implementing a continuous improvement system.
- Experience of budgeting and cost reporting/control.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Preferably a Chartered Mechanical Engineer, at least a degree qualified Mechanical Engineer with appropriate experience.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- Responsible for Mechanical / Process Engineer or Graduate Engineer and a team of ten to fifteen Site Services Operators working a 24/7 continuous shift system.
