The Opportunity

Due to continued growth and client demand, our client is seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Private Tax Manager to join their Leicester team. Key Responsibilities

Technical Tax Management

  • Prepare and review complex personal tax returns, including self-assessment, capital gains tax, and inheritance tax computations
  • Manage sophisticated trust and estate tax planning strategies
  • Handle non-resident and domicile planning matters
  • Advise on capital gains tax reliefs, including business asset disposal relief and investors' relief
  • Oversee inheritance tax mitigation strategies and estate planning structures
  • Manage tax investigations and enquiries with HMRC

Client Advisory Services

  • Provide strategic tax planning advice to high-net-worth individuals and families
  • Structure complex transactions to optimise tax efficiency
  • Advise on residence and domicile matters for internationally mobile clients
  • Develop bespoke tax planning solutions for business owners and entrepreneurs
  • Coordinate with other professional advisors including solicitors, investment managers, and accountants

Technical Leadership

  • Mentor and develop junior tax professionals within the team
  • Conduct technical training sessions and knowledge sharing
  • Stay current with tax legislation changes and communicate implications to clients and team
  • Quality review complex tax computations and advice letters
  • Lead technical research on emerging tax issues

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing high-value clients
  • Identify opportunities for additional services and business development
  • Attend client meetings and presentations
  • Manage client expectations and deliver exceptional service standards

Essential Requirements

Professional Qualifications

  • ACA, ACCA, or CTA qualification (CTA strongly preferred)
  • Minimum 8-10 years of private client tax experience
  • Advanced technical knowledge of UK personal tax legislation

Technical Expertise

  • Expert knowledge of income tax, capital gains tax, and inheritance tax
  • Extensive experience with trust taxation and estate planning
  • Strong understanding of residence and domicile rules
  • Experience with tax investigation procedures and HMRC dealings
  • Proficiency with tax software (Lacerte, ATT, or similar platforms)
  • Advanced Excel skills and financial modelling capabilities
