Duration: Ongoing Contract (6+ months temp to perm)

Shifts: Mornings, Afters & Nights (Rotating)

We are currently recruiting for experienced Assembly Fitters for 6 months temp to perm in Loughborough. Working within a team of Erectors to produce Transformer Internal Assemblies to Engineering specifications. This involves reading and understanding engineering drawings, working to Quality Stage Charts, fitting, crimping, and some minor electrical testing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Building of core & coils for 33kV, 66kV, and 132kV power transformers within the Transformer Assembly section.
  • Transposing taps on 33kV, 66kV, and 132kV power transformer coil windings.
  • Preparing, crimping & connecting, and routing of cables in adherence to defined critical clearance tolerances.
  • Conduct pre-tank parallel and ratio checks to electrical specifications.
  • Standing/upending, plating up & oven processing/pressing of all coil windings.
  • Movement of materials & parts between areas, including oven process.
  • Maintain high level of cleanliness and housekeeping throughout the Production facility.
  • Working at Heights, operation of overhead cranes, and MEWPs.

Shifts:
  • Mornings - week 1 07:00 to 16:00 Monday to Thursday, 07:00 to 13:00 Friday (40 hours). Week 2 07:00 to 16:00 Monday to Thursday (34 hours).
  • Afternoons - week 1 16:00 to 01:00 Monday to Thursday, 12:00 to 18:00 Friday (40 hours), Week 2 16:00 to 01:00 Monday to Thursday (34 hours).
  • Nights x2 weeks 21:15 to 07:00 Monday to Thursday (37 hours).

The 1st 6 weeks will be on day shift whilst training.

Pay Rates:
  • Days: (whilst training) £17.17 (PAYE) or £22.58 Umbrella.
  • All shifts: £20.94 (PAYE) or £27.68 (umbrella).
Qualifications:
  • Engineering related apprenticeship advantageous.
  • Overhead crane, slinging & lifting.
  • MEWP 3A & 3B (preferably).
  • Forklift truck (preferable but not essential).
  • Working at height.
Skills:
  • Good interpersonal & communication skills.
  • Good team player.
  • Flexible approach (shift work may apply, including nights).
  • Understanding & working to engineering drawings/specifications.
  • Good understanding of quality and inspection standards.
  • Problem solver with a methodical approach and an eye for detail.
  • The attitude and will to want to make a difference.
Experience:
  • Mechanical fitting advantageous.
  • Electrical background advantageous.
  • Previous experience working to critical tolerances.
  • Previous experience in a busy manufacturing/engineering environment.
