An established contractor with in-house steelwork capability is looking for a Design Engineer to support the delivery of structural steel packages across a range of complex projects. Working as part of a close-knit technical team, the Design Engineer will play a key role in developing practical, buildable solutions from concept through to construction. With steelwork detailing and fabrication managed internally, there's real scope to influence how designs are produced and delivered on the ground.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce structural steel designs and connection details for permanent and temporary works
  • Support the preparation of calculations, fabrication drawings, and technical documents
  • Coordinate with internal project teams, fabricators, and site engineers
  • Ensure design outputs meet all applicable codes, safety standards, and client specifications
  • Assist with design reviews, value engineering, and coordination with other disciplines
  • Provide technical support through tendering, design development, and construction

What You'll Bring:

  • Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (BEng/MEng)
  • Working knowledge of Eurocodes and UK design standards
  • Proficiency in relevant software (e.g. Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, IDEA StatiCa, structural analysis tools)
  • Experience with steel detailing or fabrication processes (desirable)
  • A practical mindset and strong problem-solving ability
  • Good communication and team collaboration skills
