A successful and growing ‘niche’ food manufacturing business is experiencing substantial growth with a number of their major customers and has created a new and exciting role for a Process Technologist to join the company at their South London site.

The Role

This is a very exciting opportunity for a Process Technologist / Food Technologist to take on a broad range of responsibilities across Technical, Process, NPD, and act as a pivotal link between the business and the customer on a wide range of Product Development matters. Fantastic communication is an important requirement, as the Technologist appointed will work as part of a small team and communicate with colleagues within NPD, Technical, Quality, Manufacturing and Operations.

The focus of the role will be on managing product development processes, gaining an understanding of what the customer wants with new food products, and understanding the capability of the site to manufacture these new food products. Detailed knowledge of Food Technology and associated processes is crucial to this role, as the Process Technologist / Food Technologist will be the Technical point of contact for a number of stakeholders regarding: product, packaging, labelling, raw materials and manufacturability.

Working as part of the NPD team, the Process Technologist will manage and generate key technical information expected by customers to ensure successful NPD delivery, meeting the brief and regulatory compliance requirements. The Process Technologist appointed will use due diligence to ensure product trials are being conducted correctly and there will be regular liaison with customer technical and NPD teams.

Working closely with the NPD and Manufacturing team, the Process Technologist will assess the manufacturability of new products, and the feasibility of scaling up production of new products, given manufacturing resources available. The Process Technologist / Food Technologist will assess the commercial viability of new products and will use techniques such as Gap analysis, kitchen tests, and benchmarking to establish whether a new product is viable.

As part of the critical path to approve new products, there will be a requirement to manage product trials, develop and maintain process & product paperwork, record information on trials, monitor systems, methodologies and protocols.

The Person

We are seeking an experienced Process Technologist / Food Technologist with 3+ years relevant experience. We are seeking an individual with an understanding of the NPD process, production processes and introducing new products into production. We are seeking an individual with experience of running product trials, ‘scaling up’ of production volumes, and delivering commercially successful food products.

The Salary offered will be £36,000 pa to £37,000 pa depending on experience + Benefits. Monday to Friday with some flexibility on start and finish times.
