Our DC (Defined Contribution) consulting department comprises of c.45 dedicated DC consultants. We advise over £25 billion in DC assets, including some of the largest DC schemes in the UK. Our strong position in the market is supported by our award-winning technology which helps clients improve governance, investment and communication in their DC schemes, with the ultimate aim of achieving better outcomes for their members. Because we don’t provide fiduciary management services or have links with a DC pension provider we are able to provide un-conflicted, independent advice.

We have an exciting opportunity for Senior DC Consultant to join our growing specialist DC division. Whilst the role covers the wide spectrum of advice required by a DC scheme, we are looking for someone with excellent relationship experience across both trust based and corporate clients in the areas of governance. Experience in investment and good technical pension investment knowledge would be advantageous, but is not a requirement for the role.

What will you be doing?

  • Building and leading relations with clients, ensuring their needs are identified and met, as well as driving forward the client relationship where appropriate
  • Getting involved with new business pitches for DC Consultancy work
  • Lead and support on projects, including master trust / GPP reviews and selection exercises, advising on the buy-out and wind-up of pension arrangements, overseeing AVC reviews
  • Managing a portfolio of clients, supporting them with ongoing governance via regular meetings, working collaboratively with all stakeholders, focussing on improving member outcomes
  • Working alongside investment colleagues providing investment advice on your clients, which could include:
    • Running and interpreting DC Investment strategy modelling to identify suitable investment strategies in the context of the client’s specific membership
    • Identifying suitable investment structures to implement strategies, considering individual client’s circumstances and preferences
    • Conducting investment manager / DC provider selection exercises, leading clients to reach decisions on managers and / or a suitable investment strategy from a provider
  • Drafting advice to a standard that you are happy to sign off
  • Getting involved with DC research on master trust / GPP providers, keeping up to date with their evolving propositions and support the research output that feeds into advice to clients
  • Working within a team environment, providing leadership and guidance to junior team members

What skills, qualifications and experience will you bring?

  • Demonstrable experience of working within the UK DC pension scheme advisory sector in a consultancy environment.
  • Ideally PMI qualified with some years of post-qualification experience or other relevant qualifications such as FIA, FFA or CFA
