Legal Counsel / Senior Legal Counsel, IP Procurement

Description

This role is instrumental in delivering SkyShowtime\’s procurement needs across its business. Working in close partnership with the SkyShowtime procurement and operations departments, the role is focused primarily on providing business and legal affairs support and advice on supplier and commercial contracting needs across the SkyShowtime territories. Given the IP based nature of SkyShowtime\’s business, having a strong background in IP related contracting is a must in this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting all procurement related agreements across the SkyShowtime footprint including without limit SaaS/Cloud based Software agreements, MSAs, SOWs, consultancy agreements, event agreements, professional services (including financial services), lease agreements, recruitment services, equipment agreements and marketing services.
  • Partnering with the Procurement department to ensure all appropriate processes are put in place and followed.
  • Reviewing, drafting and maintaining appropriate PO standard terms and conditions.
  • Advising the business-on-business risk and legal matters impacting it\’s procurement arrangements.
  • Understanding and operating within the parameters of the company\’s JVA.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of contracting statuses and proactively drive deals to conclusion.
  • Maintaining and updating precedents as and when required.
  • Providing first line legal advice and drafting of appropriate data privacy. provisions working closely with the Data Privacy team and ensuring all data privacy policies are followed.
  • Supporting and advising on AI related matters, providing direct oversight and implementation of the company\’s AI policy.
  • Supporting on all insurance policy requirements and renewals.
  • Proactively interfacing with other departments to ensure necessary instructions are received at the earliest opportunity and in particular billing information remains accurate and finance is supported in following and managing the PO processes and financial terms.
  • Support on the development and maintenance of effective and efficient workflows.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Ideally 2 to 5 years PQE experience in a media company, with a strong preference from a major studio or within video streaming.
  • Direct experience in IP related commercial contracting, software licensing and financial agreements.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • In-depth understanding of data privacy.
  • Experience contracting and implementing AI solutions an advantage.
  • LLB or equivalent qualification including IP law as a minimum, admitted to the Solicitor\’s Roll.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Passion for content.
  • Must be fluent in English with excellent written and verbal skills. Additional European language is a plus.
