Role Description
We are looking for a talented, ambitious and highly-qualified lawyer with a strong interest in the sustainability and renewable energy sectors to provide legal support to the renewable energy projects across our group of businesses. We are a small team with a broad remit, so you will be a highly-motivated self-starter prepared to take on the wide variety of legal issues that come across your desk each day. This role will be based in London and report to the General Counsel.
The vacancy is likely to be for an initial 9 month term.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will manage a range of tasks, including but not limited to the following:
- Provision of strategic and commercial legal advice across all areas of the business
- Legal transaction structuring and documentation, as well as development and implementation of internal governance processes and policies in connection with the Low Carbon IPP business
- Management of legal disputes arising in connection with the Low Carbon IPP business
- Structuring, review, negotiation, execution and ongoing management of/compliance with:
- Commercial contracts, including NDAs, exclusivity, consultancy agreements etc.
- Project contracts, including lease options, EPC, O&M, PPAs, asset management, etc
- M&A and joint venture arrangements
- Structuring and management of corporate and financing arrangements
- Assisting in the development and implementation of legal templates, processes, and policies to streamline contract management and improve efficiency
- Co-ordinating with the broader legal and compliance team to ensure alignment in approach
- Providing legal advice and support to other group functions, as required (e.g. HR, finance, audit, marketing, procurement and systems/operations)
Skills & Experience
- UK qualified 4+ PQE lawyer
- Solid corporate training from a reputable law firm or equivalent
- Currently in-house or in private practice – preferably with some in-house experience (e.g. a secondment)
- Law degree or equivalent from a reputable university
- Infrastructure (particularly renewables) experience would be a bonus
- Fluent English speaker – other European languages (Dutch, German or Polish, in particular) would be an advantage, but not a requirement
